Host a BOOKUP! Literacy Day
at your school, church or organization!
A one-day affair with books ALL can actually afford!
Detroit Book City has created a 'BookUp! Literacy Day' fostered for all to create a love for reading year round. Attendees have access to purchase a large selection of diverse culturally-rich titles, meet some dynamic local authors | storytellers and participate in several raffles & giveaways throughout the day!
Our BookUp! Literacy Day Program provides new books. Most books sell from $4.99 - $18.99 depending on book type and genre. We suggest you bring at least $10 spending money to shop. Or, ask about our "Book Bucks" program. Your organization purchases pre-paid "Book Bucks" in advance, min. $6. Your group individually cash-in the bucks for books on event day!
At the scheduled BookUp! Literacy Day, we set up 2-3 tables of culturally-rich, diverse books for sale, literacy resources, and lots of giveaways & treats If you would like to request specific titles, we can make that happen just give us 7 business days advance notice!
At every event, we give out FREE bookmarks to everyone who buy books. For youth groups, we bring heritage coloring sheets and/or affirmation posters that uplift READING!
